Thanks!!! I gotta tell ya it was really easy to put together. The pieces seem to just fit togehter. The Eco Rock from Bulk Reef is great to work with! I just ordered some cement from the Marco Rock site to be extra sure this stuff stays together before it goes in the tank!!
 
Had to take a break from working on the fish room last night to take my daughter to the "Rockin 80's" Daddy Daughter dance. We decided to rock it out!!!! We had a blast!!!!

O.K. - now back to business.......

We have tank!!! ..... again. And this time it looks great, no cracks :beer:

The contractor did an o.k. job but deviated from my drawings in a couple places - like leaving two corners of the 2x8 vertical supports without proper bracing ... like so

But several hours later ... I have heavily reinforced their work .... like so

Only one remaining issue with the stand top .... for some reason they thought it was o.k. to leave the groove in the OSB they used to top the stand

I don't think will create a structural issue but I plan to take a 1/4" dowel and glue/clamp it into the groove to close it up. Anyone have another solution or think this will be o.k.?
 
you could try some expanding foam in the groove and then simply stanely knife the excess off once it has dried?

Good idea - the void on the edge is about 1/4" high and 1/4" deep. I think the bottom of the frame is wide enough that it should disburse the weight enough that the edge won't compress/collapse ..... I'm just paranoid. My wife has already told me that if this tank fails/leaks I will be finding a new place to live ::uzi::worried: and I really like where I live and who I live with so I am trying to avoid that at all costs :love1:
 
I think that keeping "better halves" happy is harder than keeping levels stable when you are in this hobby/addiction!

Ha Ha ... Amen brother!!! After 23 years of marriage and 29 years of being together we've worked out alot of the kinks. And in fairness my wife is actually quite understanding of my reef addiction. As she likes to say ... there are alot worse addictions out there!!!!
 
O.K. i need some advice .... I have painted the stand with several coats of Kilz Premium but not sure what to use for a finished coat. Any suggestions?
 
Everyting is primed, filled and caulked ... ready for top coat of paint.

I went ahead and bought one gallon of garage floor epoxy paint. I am going to try it on a small part of the stand tomorrow and see how it looks. Still not sure if it is the right thing to use or not?
