Wire job looks really good

The wattage selection dial is on the outside of the ballast box

Took me like 15 minutes to open this monster

Again, really well packed

Took a bit of work to get the protective plastic off the reflectors and get the bulds in and the glass cleaned but was well worth the effort

This thing is a real beast!! Using 3 20K Radiums with 2 Blue +, 1 Purple + and 1 AquaBlue Special T5. Output looks awesome!!!

Can't wait to get it over the tank.

I also got my industrial strength rail kit to hang it with.

I can't work on it tomorrow but plan to spend the day Sunday hopefully getting it installed.

I will post pics as I continue.

That looks amazing! I can't believe the packaging of that light. They did a great job

Yeah I was very impressed with the whole purchase process. Mike from Reef Specialty was great to work with and then they built it at Coralvue and shipped from their shop in Louisiana. The fixture was in Michigan within 3 days and was packed amazingly well!!

I was a little worried about the look being too Blue with the Radiums so I wanted to mix a bit of white and purple to balance things out. Figured I will experiment a bit with colors.

Cool, if you need any help Sunday, feel free to PM me I'd be more then happy to come give ya a hand.

Hey Reefnooblet - just getting back online and saw your post. Thanks for the offer!!! Obviously too late but I appreciate it none the less.

I have some updates based on the work I did today.

OK - so I first started by attaching a 1"x1" steel channel to the fixture where the holes were for the hanging bracket.

Then attached pocket door channel to the ceiling joists

Then used the wheeled guides in the channel to be able to hang and slide the light

I am really happy with the way it has turned out.

Next step will be to get my Apex set up and get the lights on a proper time cycle.

yoccm,
Could you take a FTS. I would be interested in seeing how the tank looks with all lights on. I have a center overflow 300dd, that is currently at a cabinet makers shop having a custom stand and hood made. I am nearing the time where I will be getting into a lighting purchase & set up. I am a bit concerned about the cross bracing creating a shadow. I was planning on going with 2 metal halides each front-back, on each of the side end sections, and a single in the center section. I would be interested in seeing how yours looks.
Thanks,

Thanks,

I will try to get a FTS up tonight. The way this fixture is set up the LED panels are directly over the two braces and the MHs are right over each of the 2x3 open tank sections. The is absolutely no shadow from the braces. The LEDs actually swivel so ICANN angle them any direction I want so I am able to direct them away from the braces so in moonlight there are no shadows either.

FWIW - the Lumenbrite mini wide pendants on this thing do a great job front to back in providing light. I can't imagine squeezing two in from front to back. Seems like it might be too much?

That light fixture is awesome!

Thanks LN. I am loving the fixture! I had worried and worried over having enough head room for it but it has all worked out in the end.

Now come the dreaded algae blooms now that I have light on the thing:hmm5:

Awesome lights, I might look into them for my 300DD.

They are a perfect fit! There's really good coverage. I priced out buying the components to build my own and it was pretty much break even and comes prebuilt and presided. Also really like the integrated ballast box with one main line coming from the fixture.

No shadowing from the braces at all. Really clean crisp look to the lights. Also got them hooked up to the Apex last night. Light cycle is working like a charm!!

Well ... now that I have lights it is time for occupants for the tank.

Modest start but a start none the less

I have alwys had a soft spot for coral beauties

These two guys have been funny - been in the tank with nothing but incandescent light for the last week - they seem much happier now!!!
