You guys/gals are quiet!

What's up! Been out of the hobby for a while. Looking to get back into it.

That's great! What are your plans?

We have a few Pizza Nights planned between now and our Spring Frag Swap on March 18th if you want to meet some local reefers.

What's up Nook!

I'm gearing up to get back in the hobby! I got wind on this amazing setup. It's the largest in the world, comes complete with literally millions of fish and corals. It doesn't even need water changes (at least for now).

Beth and I are moving to Hawaii in about a month. I plan to attend a SCUBA instructor course and hopefully transition into an new career where I make practically zero money but get to spend a large portion of my waking hours on the reefs.

BTW, I'll be coming back through STL likely for the last time on Thursday Jan, 19th. Wanna meetup?

I'm in the EARLY planning stages since I am building a house in Mascoutah. Since I probably won't have as much funds then as I do now, I am collecting items here and there.

I'm planning a Reefer 250 (will get last, along with a BRS RO/DI unit)
Lighting: 2x Kessil a160 (already have)
Skimmer: RO 150SSS (Buying next month)
Return: Eheim Compact+ 5000
ATO: Tunze (Already have)

I plan on hard plumbing the return to reduce the flow of the Eheim, but I want to run a reactor that will be coming off the manifold. I plan on turning the ATO reservoir into a fuge as well. Some items could change, but this is what I have so far. The tank probably won't be up and running until next December, but I'm OK with that. The bug kind of bit me when I inadvertently watched a BRS video on the IM20 gallon setup.

I used to have a 20H with a Sunpod on it and LOVED that tank. That was over 10 years ago when MH was superior to all lighting. Now, I'd like to go a little bigger and keep softies & LPS. I don't want to dive into SPS right away.

That sounds like a fantastic plan.

When I visited St. John a few years ago I met a kid who basically did just that. He and his new bride moved from Wisconsin to the island so he could go to work for an eco tour company.

He decided to take it one step further and start attending the University on St. Thomas to get a degree in Marine Biology.

He said the same thing you did - no money, but he gets to do what he loves every day.

Don't forget heaters and power heads.

I'm busy finishing a fish tank stand....:hammer::bounce3: I think this is going to be the year! :deadhorse1:

For powerheads i'm prolly going with Tunze. Heaters: Do I need 100 watts total? If so, I'll prolly go 2 100 watt heaters. Suggestions on heathers?

I personally prefer not to cheap out on heaters. There is to much I could lose simply because of a failed heater. I like the cobalt neotherms. They won't shatter in your tank because they have no glass. They are plugged into my apex for secondary protection and they are proven to keep your tank temperature extremely steady.

Wish I could get my wife to go along with this...

I've actually applied to the University of Hawaii. Considering a potential 2nd BS and possibly an MS in Marine Science / Tropical Ecology. :)

Shhhh you might wake VSpeck
I'm late to the party.... I've been working on stuff.... all kinds of different stuff! Then when i don't want to work on more stuff i make it look like I'm busy working on stuff.

Blinggy stuff

Stuff that's fun to paint

And some play

I get the day off tomorrow for weather so that's a bonus!
