You may see a fish tank in your local barber shop.

Lol, I would think it would be worse for the fish with all the hair flying around and getting into the tanks, not to mention hair chemicals. I don't really see how a fish tank is going to hurt anything in a barber shop.

Maybe this was stopping people from using fish (barracuda? Pirahna!) as hair cutting devices. I'm not getting my hair cut for a long while now.:wildone:

Very Cool.

We have a member (Generro) who owns a shop off of stewarts ferry in Donaldson, and of course my wife has her solans she works at.We have had several discussions about this topic and the fact that other states allow tanks in salons and barber shops.

I would be cool to have this allowed.

It was funny listening to the legislators talk about this. I was listening to them and they were making a lot of jokes of why we have to pass a law to allow it. But in the law it prohibits pets. I thought it was silly to prohibits pets in a barber shop and not in a Dr's office?

What a waste of taxpayer money. They actually had to spend time on this? Good god. This is almost as stupid as the fact I can't have liquor or beer shipped to my house or buy booze on Sunday, or go to the grocery store to buy a bottle of wine.

FWIW, no booze on Sunday would be local, not state.

:p :D

Brandon

Still a stupid, inconvenient policy. By booze I mean rum, vodka, whiskey, etc. not beer. Maybe it's just Spring Hill.

I am actually floored they spent time passing legislation on fish tanks in barber shops. Seriously.

Either way, beer or not, it would be a local law... so yeah, its only Spring Hill and a few other select places.

Brandon

Yep... sorry... I was referring to the Sunday thing being local, not the shipping.

But we've already had that discussion, too. ;)

It's a statewide law that prevents me from getting stuff shipped in. Awesome.

Actually, that was overturned last year, it was called SB166.

"Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen signed SB166 on June 5, which permits residents to receive up to three cases of wine from wineries who have paid the $300 application fee and make their $150 annual payments."

I think that the problem is that it requires direct shipment from a winery, not a distributor, and why would a winery spend $450 for the first year to ship a handful of cases?

Not talking about wine. How does that help me get beer, vodka or other liquor shipped directly to me?

yeah, I'm non-observant. You clearly said things other than wine. I don't drink, but my wife's family owns a vineyard in Italy, and the only thing ever in our house is wine and homemade limoncello, so I only ever think of wine.

Hay bring a few cases of wine down here and we can do some trading :)

And if you all are don't like you leg wasting the time on those bills you should follow some of the other stupid things they do here is a link you can watch it go on.

every year I have to read over 100 bills and the majority of them do not do much good.

1 of my best frends owns the 3rd highest volume liquor store in Nash & heres the issue with wine in grocery store. The way our local gov has it set up Liquor stores can only sell liquor & wine, thats it. No smokes,Lottery tickets,
no beer, no cokes, mixers, you get the drift. So allowing grocery stores to sell wine will kill about half of Liquor stores buisness. Thats not really fair to local owned buisnessmen & women that have opened Liquor stores.

Liquor Store owners have so much Gov reg & stupid rules it mind blowing, Such as owning multiple stores--In Tn its not allowed. Now I do think LS should be allowed to open on Sunday but to me its no biggie either way. Everyone knows they are closed so just buy more on Saturday. If they do pass the Grocery Store bill they will have to change alot more laws before it can work. Good Ole over-regulated TN.

what a complete crock of cow patties! No wonder this state is hurting! those stupid politicians are wasting time and money debating over allowing a Darn fish is a barber shop? CTFO!!!!!!!! Vote his time wasting *** out! and to add, whoever tought of legislation prohibiting it in the first place! UGH.. Someone gimme 2,000 acres in the middle of no-where !

That Is the Dumbest waste of time and money, And they get paid and free benefits for this kind of nonsense and we foot the bill. Time to wake up and throw them all out! Start Fresh with new Idiots:hmm4:
Bill:thumbdown

It's done successfully in other states I've lived in. Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin. I have no idea why TN would make it so complicated. Everywhere else I could walk in and pick up a bottle of something, go into a walk in humidor and pick out some cigars, and go. Now I have to make 2-3 stops to pick up beer, smokes, and liquor. If I'm at the grocery store and want some wine, another stop. Silly. How is it not fair?? Other states do it every day.
