Your biggest yuma

Now I'm curious.... would you be able to take a picture?

I have never heard of one even remotely near 16 inches in size and would be very surprised if its a yuma.

All mushrooms look the same to me but I will have to see if they will let me take a pic. It says its some form of a mushroom maybe a hairy mushroom.

Im Calling this one 5 inches ...I feed the larger stuff thats left in my cup (rods Food) Once it starts closing on the food i baste him full..My yuma just split 5x ate the base and its on the move again..she is a babymaker !!!

You need to leave the ruler out of that pic with the tang.........

looks like a ten incher without it

:)

Ive got some 4-5"ers, but as somebody else said already, mine also seem to pretty much stop growing at that point

Whoah. Thanks for this thread. I used to find them extremely pretty, but now I will refrain from getting one.

Partly because if I introduced something this size to my nano, I could take everything else out.

Plus - I am a snail fan, and very fond of my Stomatellas. :-)

Great pictures, though!

Do all ricordea eat snails? or just the yuma? Also, is it only stomatellas they eat? or ALL snails?

Thanks!

Realise its a crappy photo... It was taken about an hour after lights on. Still expanding when taken, but later in the day it will consistently measure 20cm across.

I'm pretty sure this isn't unique, but am very curious about the maximum sizes yumas can reach. In this case, I got it when it was about 9cm and started feeding regularly. Its only grown about 2cm in the past 6 months or so, since I stopped feeding. I'm thinking of starting feeding again to see if it can grow a bit bigger.

TBH I don't think any of mine eat snails. But some are definitely greedier & quicker feeders than others.

Different yumas also seem to have diferent feeding preferences, at least IME. The one in my photo that expands to 8" during the day, prefers raw scallop & salmon.

HTH
