your LPS tank lights

quick question,
what lights do LPS corals require, what are your lights
and where did you get them, what types of lights would I need to
keep LPS corals in a 20g tank,

thanks

Over a 20G you could get away with 130W PC lighting and keep about any LPS. Another option would be a 70W MH pendant.

That Coralife light would be great. 130 watts over 20g is good for LPS. Though of course metal halide or T5 would be better, expect to pay more.

well its not a bad brand or anything powercompact is lacking in color rendition not much for bulb choices and so on i guess it gets more to what you want to keep LPS will live under powercompact but the colors from t5 is much better i see that your new so im trying to steer you away from a beginer mistake buying insufficent lights as its expensive to upgrade later

Im using 6 T5 over my 55g and am very happy with the color of my LPS.
Although light acclimation is very important for most when using them.

Same here, I use 4 T5 on my 40 and they look great, even too bright with my shrooms, thanks for giving me a reason to write my 100th post.

congrats justin and cicci on making a wise decision most people do not understand how nice t5 is
i lived in england when these lights werre blowing up in europe and the colors of ther lps and sps are unreal

fine for keeping them alive not for colors

Trust me, I totally agree with you, but its not like corals in a healthy stable enviorment are going to lack a ton of color, as long as they have enough light from either source. I have absolutely beautiful colored candy canes under 260 Watts on 55g & the color looks great. Sure probally would look even better under some T5s or metal halide, but the point is, its not gonna make you have horrible colored corals. I would love to upgrade lighting, but I think for someone that doesnt want to chip out a ton of money power compacts are fine.

Heres a couple of my LPS and some other odds and ends frags I got goin under T5

totally true but just knowing that my corals could look better makes me go mad i want them to look like in the pictures its vanity

yeah buy the lights. No point in have thousands of dollars in coral. If you cant make it look its best.

By the way can I borrow 300 bucks for a new tunze?

blackheart i cant pitch in on your tunze fund because i have 260 of my own cash earmarked for another one
my new theory in this hobby is it is a throw away hobby lots of upgrades from now on i will buy once so i dont have to waste money on the same thing twice actually end up with more money for corals that way
