The second I put my new 6065 in my tank I somehow ruin it? I don't even think I horsed it around - just tried to make sure the magnets had no chance of snapping together as I tried to separate them to move the pump 1/2" without scratching or breaking the glass:

There is no easy way to grip the slippery magnet, either. No rough surface, or "handles?" That thing was a lot of money.

First, you can get every part as a separate spare there is not much of a loss on that small clamp and I will send you one if you PM me your address. For the future, slide the magnets apart, don't pull them apart.

Are there instructions anywhere for re-attaching a clamp properly, so I don't ruin it again?

It just plugs in, nothing more than pushing the tabs into the slots. Now unplugging them is virtually impossible without ruining the clamp.
