Yuma did better under little lighting?

Calappidae

Harlequin Shrimp
i'm a little stumped by this...

My yuma (I put a picture of it in attachments as I'm a little stumped if this is a yuma to live these conditions...) has been living under a single bulb.. 3 year active flourescent bulb... for 6 months, its been fragged alot, the frags of frags grew really big, spread, multiplied, and started 2 new colonies. It was the light the tank came with. I upgraded my light to a two bulb t5, 10k and actinic, I think 48 watts... and my mushrooms shrunk, growth rate slowed DRAMATICALLY... it stopped growing... and its closed up 90% of the time... is this a rare occurence or is there just something wrong here?

same with my mushrooms. they were looking great under an old odyssea with stock bulbs. when i switched to an aquatic life fixture with all new ati bulbs my shrooms shrunk. they're healthy just about half the size they were under the odyssea fixture.

Mushrooms in my experience will be really large to absorb more light. When they are introduced to higher light the shrink because the do not need as much surface area. Also they split more regularly in low light conditions as an effort to survive. The chances of one surviving out of two are better than one surviving out of one.

But I actually watched new heads form at a 0.25 inches and then turn into a 2 inch wide shroom within a month.
