I went on vacation for a week and thats what I came home to. everything else is well

I hate this. I wish there was a solution to this yuma melting problem. We need to try to find a common thing that is happening to all of our tanks. Did you change bulbs? Do you have shrimp or crabs that might go on top of the ricordea? Did you try to frag it, it looks like foot is in half.

it does look like it is in half, but all of my other ones are great. Im not sure if this was a wild one and it didnt adapt to the tank well or what. I have had the same set up for quite awhile. I wouldnt dare try to frag a 70 dollar piece. Im not that good "yet"

Do not throw out the rock if at all possible - i.e., doesn't appear to be polluting the water, etc. A few weeks ago it was 97 degrees and we went 48 hours without A/C, ended up losing all but one of my yumas - or so I thought. I didn't take out two of the rocks and now it looks like the pieces of some of the feet that did not melt away are growing into babies (fingers crossed because it is the rocks that had the rose yumas).

Good luck on your pinky!

i also bet wild, but im not sure. im wondering if I should raise it up in the tank and give it more light or put it in a shaded area. What do you think?

Argh! I hate seeing that! :(

You might want to consider cutting the rest of it off at the base. I've heard there's a small chance that a baby will grow from the leftovers on the rock.

how long have u had it in the tank?

i've recently got a few and they looked bad, but not this bad. the trick is to place then in a very shaded and lowlight area and eventually move them out into the light. wild ones are more sensitive compared to the ones that have been aquacultured.

try moving it to a low flow, low light area and see what happens.

i have had it about a month. thanks for the info on movin it to the shade, ill do that now. I dont think anything nibbled on it cause there are 2 huge yumas next to it that they could have had a bigger feast. thanks again
