Yuma with five mouths

I bought a blue Yuma that had two green mouths. It did well in my tank and grew, had nice deep blue coloration. After some time I noticed that it was shrinking and not looking as great as it did, but it now has mouths! All my other coral, sps, shrooms, and clams are doing great. Is this yuma trying to split and stressed? Will it split on it's own, and if so how long does it take?

It will split on its own. I have never seen a single ricordea (yuma or florida) with five mouths though! Take a picture, I'd love to see it. The most I have seen is three, with the third one nearly splitting off as its own ricordea already.

Never seen one with more than two mouths. Would love to see a picture of a yuma with 3 or more mouths

yeah i just recently sold a ricordea rock, had about 30 on it, and the biggest one was long and skinny and had 3 mouths, never split either. was like that for the year i had it until i sold it

I just got one with 5-6 mouths on it. I will post a picture tomorrow. Looks cool and I look forward to it splitting!

I forgot to check back on this thread until now. I will try to take a pic this evening. I think the Yuma has split but am not sure if it did or if it is folded.

Oops. Forgot about this one. I will have a better picture tonight. Here are a few with it in the shot, although not the focus of the picture...

These aren't the best pictures but you can see the several mouths on the ricordea. I think it has like 5-6 mouths. I can't wait for it to split!!

A couple weeks ago, I got a some R. Florida. One of the "polyps" he sent me was actually about 6" long. It contains about 4-5 polyps all daisy-chained together. I'll try to get some pics tonight and post them.

Here are a couple more pics to see the mouths better. They are not perfect because of the angles needed to see all of them. Funky angles in water = blurry pictures...

There are at least 5 mouths possibly7-8...:celeb1:

Here's my daisy-chained R. Florida. I need to get our 35mm camera fixed so I can get some better pics. This point and shoot is great for the kids' sports, but terrible at taking tank pics.

That's cool! I have never cut my ricordias or yumas. Will you let them split on their own or will you cut them? How successful have you been in cutting them. I know that technically they should be the same as cutting a normal mushroom. But, yumas and rics are so much more expensive than normal mushrooms...

I leave my Rics to their own devices when it comes to splitting. So, I'll let them split on their own time.

I was going to post a thread here with the same deal lol. All my other rics split just fine but after a year this one only grew two more mouths to feed.

These are really pretty. I've never seen one out and about. How much 'should' the run approx? I'm not trying to silicate offers, just trying to make sure I'm not taken for a fool at a lfs. Thanks guys, and again, beautiful pictures.
