This thread is going to be the build of my 40g breeder setup that I am currently in the process of planning. This is a downgrade from my 65g tall... so I will basically have everything ready for the new tank. I will transfer all the contents from the 65 to the 40 including all of the livestock and equipment.

I will include the setup of the new tank so make sure you tag along through the process. Please feel free to comment :D
Here's the specs:

Tank- AGA 40g Breeder w/ 2, 1" bulkheads
Stand- 27" tall pine
Sump- 20g long w/ glass baffles, refugium area
Return Pump- Rio 3100(changing soon!!)
Plumbing- 1" PVC and 2 overflow style 1" bulkheads on back glass
Skimmer- CSS 125(changing soon!!)
Lighting- Coralife 36" Aqualight Pro, 1x 250W HQI + 2x 65W Actinic + 2 Blue Moonlight LEDs

Looks like a good start. One suggestion I would have is to make your dual-overflows into external durso's to keep down noise. Here is a link to what they look like (the only difference is that you have your pvc pipe in the tank & you can't really turn the inside pipe like that).

Thanks Brad for the advice,

I would of considered that but I am afraid it is too late because I already have cemented both sides like in the pics above..

I'll show some pics of the completed plumbing in the next few days.

Time for an update!!!

I have got everything transfered over and settled in,, as far as I can tell everyone seems happy in the new tank. I have been lucky and not had any deaths yet, knock on wood :D

Here are some pics of the new tank-

<b>yellowwatchmen,</b>
I do plan on keeping some SPS corals but only to an extent. I currently have 2 frags and I plan to get a couple more colonies but before I do that I am going to purchase 2, hydor koralias #2's for the extra flow.

11/02/07- parameters

PH- 8.2
Ammonia- 0ppm
Nitrite- 0ppm
Nitrate- 0ppm
Calcium- 400ppm

Everthing looks good but my calcium could be a little higher..

They seem to be reacting fine,, I am starting off my lighting period for my MH at 3 hours a day and increasing it by 30min every 2nd day. This may seem to be a little drastic but I dont want to lose anything.

I have a couple quesions for you guys/gals,,

I am currently battling vertamid snails(notsure on spelling)and I was wondering if anybody has had success with fish or inverts eating these things.

Also I am looking at purchasing some new powerhead(s) for some extra flow. I have been looking at 2x, #2 hydor koralias but I have heard mixed things about them. Please feel free to give your comments or suggestions.

<b>ramous,</b>
I think the skimmer is crappy, it does its purpose for now but it is a pain to adjust and it overflows easily.

I have the same skimmer and it does it job but it is a pain to adjust and it overflows if the water level raises in the sump. But i can t complain since i got it for free never used in a raffle.
