i have been running full zeo on my 300g mixed tank for about 14weeks. i noticed that the nutrients in the tank were not dropping as they should have and was still having a hair algae issue. i looked into what the cause may have been..i tested the flow out of the reactor(vertex 3.0 with 2.8 liters of zeolite) was only about 130gph turned all the way up. i was recommended 280gph, so i switched the pump and dialed it in.
after a 3 weeks i noticed phosphate at 0 on my hanna meter and nitrates were slowly decreasing from 4 to about 1. so far so good. then i notice my birdsnest coral tn on the tips. i go threw all the testing. every thing looks good except alk rose up from 7.3 to about 8 over a few weeks. i made adjustments and kept it below 8 so far. i felt is could be too much flow threw the so i backed it some...
last night i noticed my undata look very stressed. i figured here we go again. here are the results of testing. phosphate took a huge jump up.
temp -78
alk 7.7
phos 20ppb or .06ppm up from nearly 0 a week ago.
nitrate 2. up from 1 last week
mag 1280
pot 400
cal 400
now im going to add even more to the fire. a few weeks ago i put in new bulbs. i switched from 400w radiums to 250w radiums. the par was similar going from the 400w used bulbs to the new 250's. actually the 250's were slightly higher. the 400's were loosing par rapidly after 6 months..they had to be replaced.

im wondering if im just fiddling too much, but i cant just leave things when there is an issue.
