zeovit coral vitalizer

CV is a coral food used in conjunction with zeovit, promotes polyp extension and enhanced colors without addition of nitrate or phosphate. The smell, as with many other zeovit products, detects vinegar as an ingredient. I can only speak from limited experience, but corals seem to enjoy it. Outside of running the full system, I cannot speak to the positive or negative effects. I would visit their forum and research it that way, you may get more info that way. As far as what is in it, TP will never give that info up, so take it with a grain of salt....HTH's

VERY GOOD experience +1

The malt vinegar smell is a preservative iirc. I've noticed great pe better growth and colors.
Heres a description...

The new Coralfood Concentrate contains both liquid and solid elements, providing food to SPS corals as well as several soft corals. Does not increase PO4 or NO3. First results can be seen after 7 – 10 days. When the corals are used to the feeding you will notice increased polyp expansion, e.g. of Acropora are fully extended even during the light period. Corals retain their bright, natural color. Increases coral growth.
We recommend a dosing of 1-3 drops per 100L/25 gallons /day, depending on the live stock in the tank.

i use cv and aa and from what i've been told you should dose coral snow to delete any unwanted aa in the system at night time :reading:

This is an old thread, but figured I'd chime in...

I'm not running a Zeovit system with Zeolites. But like such systems I do have very low phosphates and nitrates. Cannot detect it with my Salifert kits. I owe it to skimming and running an algae turf scrubber. Given that similarity, I thought Id give CV as shot.

I began dosing 1 drop into my 40g system twice a week at night. KZ recommends roughly twice that dose daily. After a month my corals appeared unchanged, so I moved to a drop every other day. I think - it is subjective - that my corals responded with better color. So after a few months of that I moved to the recommended 2 drops per day.

The result? Within a week I was observing colors on some of my corals that I've never seen. For instance I've got an acro that was all blue but within a week was blue and bright green. And birdsnests that have historically suffered in my care, appear to be mounting a solid recovery - previously bare skeleton being colonized by polyps again.

Can I attribute this with certainty to Coral Vitalizer? No. But it sure looks like it.

Oh... it's worth mentioning, I received a pink stylophora from Vivid just as I had increased the dose to a drop every other day. I'm NOT an experienced SPS keeper, and I was afraid that this beautiful pink coral would brown out in my care. Far from it! If you check that link, that's what the coral looked like when I got it. Now it is MUCH pinker - deeper pink, better coverage. I'm assuming the CV made the difference because - as I said - I'm not an experienced SPS keeper.

Here's a recent pic. It's actually pinker than this shows, but I'm limited by both my camera and lack of photographic skills.

I'm thinking of going to my LHFS (local health food store) and buying some protein powder and mixing it with a crushed daily vitamin pill and see how that works

Coral Snow is Bentanite clay! PERIOD. It is not a magic elixir of life. It most certainly does not knock out Amino Acids. Bentonite Food grade material used for clarifying wine is 1-2 usd per pound. Not 50 for a 100 gram slurry.

Now that you know that what is your opinion? I am analyzed CV too.

Are you not supposed to have AA in the system at night? The reason I ask is that I have noticed a bright green algae that seems to grow at night and in the shaded areas of the tank.

I have been using CV for a week or so and I can't tell a difference yet. I did error on the light side so maybe I'll step it up.

Not sure what the other poster is talking about. Amino Acid is a good food source night or day.

Assuming your water parameters are within the recommended range, you will begin to notice the effects of CV in 2 - 4 weeks, primarily a growth spurt and corralites lengthening. Also, based on your signature, I am assuming you have approximately 100g of water volume in your system. Dosing CV should be 2-3 drops three days a week.

Additionally, the green algae your experiencing maybe cyano forming. If so, stop dosing CV until cyano is corrected.
