I have a 58g sps tank I have had it running now for about 3 years. recently upgraded on new equipment i am running a 400w 20k radium, recirculating skimmer, 25g sump, 75lbs of live rock, using bionic. i have been looking into different kinds of coral food. Currently i use live plankton and reef solutions for basic trace elements i had good growth, but have been researching some of the other products that are out there to feed sps. i have been looking into zeovit but i dont really no anybody that has used it i have talked to people and they say that i only need to use pohls coral vitalizer, potasium iodide and amino acids. i also have read on there website that you are to use other products along with those three. what i am trying to get at is if anyone has used zeovit how did they like it and which products did they use? did it work better than other products or worse? have people found other produts that work better? just looking for help on what helps bring the corals natural colors out and keep the color and what foods have you found to help with growth and health? any help would be great thanks

I use Zeovit and find it to be very good method for keeping a reef tank . I have several fish feed alot and i have better color and growth than I ever expected to be possible. I started with the zeo basic 4 and currently use almost every thing they have.

You may want to check out the Zeovit forum I can't post a link but the URL isn't very tough and if you still don't get it a quick google should.

I have to say I agree with you. If its working why change. But the poster was asking what works for you. Not why you dont like zeovit. So please contrtibite to the thread by telling how everything works so well for you.

I also run Zeovit and have great success with it. Its not a magic potion and does require good husbandry. Its a another method that works. Its all about what works for you. :)

IU2468,

I see you are in Chicago. There are a few people out here that I know run it. You may be best suited to see their tanks and see the results for yourself first hand. Its easier than taking other peoples comments.

Hope that helps.

I just ordered some Pocci Glow and Pohl's CV. It should be here next week. I have low nutrients without using the Zeo system. I dose vodka and rely on my Deltec skimmer. I have decent color but there is always room for improvement. The glowing stylos and birdsnests of the Zeovit Tank of the Quarter are what sold me on their supplements. I hope they work for me.

I have used zeovit for a little over a year now and I love it. Yes, it can be expensive at first getting started but after that it is relatively low cost. I have used coral vitalizer now for about 2 months and all I can say is growth...growth...growth... I noticed new growth tips two days after using it. This is just my opinion, but thats what you wanted.

By the way I see you have a 58 gallon tank. I run a 40 gallon, I am a college student and I can afford zeovit. With such a small tank the costs are even lower and most zeoproducts last a long time 1 year +.

I used the zeovit for almost a year. I didn't like what it was doing to my sps colors and thats about the only thing I noticed using it. They were very light in color, I used the basic 4 and a few additives like the AAHC and a few others. I couldn't justify the cost so stopped. And I don't know if it was the cause but I kept losing sps while using the zeo. I didn't add the start 2 for a long time and still had some losses. I followed all the rules and all water parameters.

I stopped all use except the AAHC and all my colors have come back, I like my sps colors much better now. And have I have not had any more losses since I stopped.
So I have tried it, and found I can do without the extra expense of running a beautiful SPS tank. So it's not for everyone in my opinion. Glad it seems to work for some.

ZEOVIT kicks a*ss. yesterday was 1 month for me. i started seeing improvements in color, PE and growth within 2 weeks. BUT if your not up to 100% husbandry, then wait till u are. it isn't magic but can be close if u are meticulous w/ everything. i use the basic 4, Mg concentrate, CV and K balance. starting aminos next week. i actually look foward to my water changes now.

did u follow dosing instructions from captiveoceans website and/or from bottles? they are very high IMO. i use much lower doses than recommended, as well as alot of other reefers.

I use the basic 4, KB, CV and HCAA. I like the results so far. I still have PIF and FE on hand that I still havent used. I will start dosing those after the second exchange. Overall, Im pretty satisfied with the results. I have a total of 85 gallons net and i figured it runs me about 7 bucks a week using the zeo method.

Yes I was given a dosage to use. We even had to keep lowering it. But still had problems. Also heard it may not work as well for BB tanks. But don't really care, I'll never use it again. LMK if someone needs a zoevit reactor. I have one FS.

I started using it about 1 and a half years ago and it did make a difference then. I stopped using it about 3 - 4 months ago and have not seen a difference since. I did have an accident with it last week (didn't use it but a family member accidently dumped the whole zeostart container in and RTN'd a few acro pieces until I came home to deal with it, don't really want to get into it).

Not sure if it happened with anyone else, but when I stopped with the Zeo Basic 4 and low nutrient style and basically overfeed the tank with a gang of concentrated foods for corals (especially CV, AAHC, and the Salifert Concentrates) the corals grew a lot faster and exhibited better coloring.

I would not go back to using zeovit basic 4, but I will definitely use and continue to use the Pocillo-Stylo glow, Pohl's CV, and AAHC.

On a side note, you mention that you reef solutions in addition to b-ionic. Until recently I was doing the same until someone pointed out that b-ionic has the same trace elements that are in the reef solutions. Since I quit using the reef solutions, I have noticed my coralline growing a little faster, plus saves money.....just a thought, but I think less is better IMO
