Zeovit starts today

Hey Russ, sorry to hear about your A. hyacinthus, let me know when things stabilize and I'll try to hook you up with a new frag of it. :)

Thanks Eric. But it wasnt my red hyacinthus that rtn on me. It was a green freebie that I got a few months back from RM.

Update. I may have found the cause of my rtns. Zeo method is definitely different from other methods of reefkeeping. On my zeo dosing, everything has to be followed pretty much to the tee. On my tank, the amount of carbon that I needed is 3/4 of a cup that is place in a filter sock and placed in a passively low flow area of my sump. This bag is kneaded 3X a week. I mistakenly put 1 3/4 cup of carbon. Way too much for the zeo method. Too much trace elements are being removed. I put in the right amount now and will see what happens in the next few weeks. Hopefully it will be ready for the April meeting.

any update? i know it's only been a day since you last post :D
BTW a cup is how much. Every cup is different. Keep us posted

Yesterday marked the end of the 4th week of zeo. Unfortunately there is nothing to really report nor worth posting pics. I do think my tank is getting more stabilized now. Water quality has been good and clarity has been great. Im starting to increase my photoperiod on my halides to see if I can achieve better results. I have been running my 250de for 4 hours a day and I will start increasing it to 7 by adding 1/2 hour every 3 or 4 days. Its still early to tell if its worth it but I do have 5 or so months of zeo supplement still on hand. I do have a couple of other zeo supplements that I still have not dose since it is not recommended till at least after the first zeolith exchange(changed out every 6 weeks).

Parameters from last night

Ph 8.2
Alk 8dkh
Amm 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Phosphate less than 0.05ppm
Calcium 430
Magnesium 1300

End of week 5. I absolutely have nothing to report! Hey, Im just being honest here. Growth is pretty much the same when I wasnt doing zeo. Colors are pretty much the same. Still have about 5 months worth of supplies so only time will tell.

Everything is starting to look good now. Growth is a tad slow but there is some noticable differences on some frags. I wont be posting any pics till after the Apr meeting. I will let you guys decide to see if zeo is worth it.

Glad to hear you are having some noticeable changes. Getting the dosing right and learning to really "read" your corals seems to be a big part of those who have success with zeo. What components of zeo are you currently dosing?

Basic 4, K-balance, CV and HCAA. I also have PIF and FE that I havent dosed yet. It was suggested for me to wait till the second exchange or till I get to Phase II.

Cool :). I am pretty happy with my results and have moved into dosing some of the other "stuff". I still would like to see lower readings on my hannah colormeter for the phosphates but corals are very nicely colored, healthy, and growing. Glad to hear a positive for zeovit.

A hanna will be my next purchase. Actually I may just ask for it for my Bday. But its not till June. Anyways, its the end of week 10. So far so good. My chips acro is starting to really take off. My purple mille and pink birdsnest is branching out like crazy. I still have some other corals that hasnt done anything. I have a purple bonzai(actually a tan bonzai) that have not done anything so far.

I guess its been awhile since I updated huh? Ill try to take some pics this week and post them. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with Zeo. I moved on to Phase 2 of zeo and dosing less. Coloration is great so far and growth is good.
