Zeovit

That's an excellent point about the phosphate kits. Zeo users tend to trust their Hanna photometers but that's about it (I don't own one of those).

Other visual cues besides the corals getting a pale look? To determine that PO4 is dropping I mean...macro algae turning white, yellow, and/or translucent would be another indicator. Any others?

Real good, Zedar.

But just to be complete, who are the manufacturers of "Matrix" and "Stability" ?

Seachem is the manufacturer of the matrix and stability products. Also do not forget to stir the matrix rocks in the reactor every so often to get the mulm/deitrus off the rocks just like you would do with teh zeo rocks.

Here is a good link Zedar sent me to find all the seachem stuff cheap and many other good supplements, my personal favorite ESV, there is Warner balanced potassium and AA's if you do not want to use the powder stuff or zeo.

Awsome thread. I'm in for the ride, but I wanna see more pics. Will someone PM me and tell me whats *the other forum* that j.prostrata belongs to? I'd like to do some reaserch.

zedar can you tell me the signs of overdosing k+ ..i think i saw you post it but i cant find it again..thanks in advance

SPS tips on some Acros will become burnt. The tips become a tan color.

If you dose too quickly the result is a darkening of coral color, green algae on the rocks.
Ive also read that yellow corals will have a greenish sheen to them.

I took Zedar's suggestion and I am dosing iHerb Potassium Chloride. I have about 150 gallons in my system and I am dosing (dissolved in tank water) two teaspoons in the morning and two teaspoons in the evening. The entire 8 oz. bottle will be administered over the course of the week.

I have seen no ill effects from that dosing schedule.

I did purchase the ZEOvit Potassium test kit. After testing, I found that I will need to dose a total of approx. 12 oz. of potassium chloride to bring my water back up to the levels found in natural sea water. However, I will test again after the addition of the first 8 oz. bottle.

eskymick, let us know what kind of salt your using also and how often you do water changes. it will help us better guess our K level if were using the same salt :D thank you
