Ok, Chris.Serge,
Nick must of had a big night....
I hope that Nick will answer of my questions.
Ok, Chris.Serge,

Then I do not understand anything.
For your system 11 tone, you take 5.5 tons of water, then add Zn to 450 ppb, Mn to 980 ppb, Cu to 350 ppb, right ?
Wherefore do you do daily dosing Zn-0,6 ppb, Mn-1,78ppb, Cu-0,48ppb ???
Such meager doses can not possibly affect to such huge concentrations of these elements in your system.
Chris/Nick with NSW If you do a Mn LR test with the Palintest meter does it throw a believable result back?
What plaintest is that modelI got a feeling that Palintest unit is throwing out readings that ain't correct possibly.
I got a Hanna HI 83300, the measurement range of the available reagents between the Palintest & Hanna are pretty similar.
My Hanna unit with the Mn LR reagents (0-300 ug/L)tells me my Mn is "out of range" 300+ ug/L
My Triton ICP tests always show Mn < 2ug/L
I haven't dosed anything different to make my readings go off the chart.
Probably due to what's included in the book.

Maybe similar happening - maybe not too....might be comparing apples to oranges.
Anyway looks like unless i'm doing something wrong the Hanna unit is not of any use for this one.

Not Palintest - Hanna 83300 - works the same with the reagents - both seem to have the same elements/reagent base choice/test ranges/accuracy.

Earlier in the year when i asked Palintest questions all i got thrown was prices back so i vetoed them,That was when you were using the smaller Palintest unit i see you've upgraded since but it still uses the same reagents yes?
2una
The plaintest test we use has high and low range i have the HR reagents i have ordered the low range reagents
I have tested NSW in high range but got no ready of course

Having high and low range reagents wont stop them from interference. These still look like they are made for freshwater applications.
Seawater is very complex to test and even professional analysts have a hard time. So, this is nothing at all against anyone.
I'm still unclear what type of ICP testing is done at the university? Or if ICP testing is not done what method is?
From the Pallintest model website information.Jason ,
Where did you find
that the palintest is only for fresh water??
What do you want to know about the icp testing ?

Metals and Salts Combo - As Supplied (ICPMS)From the Pallintest model website information.
What type of ICP testing?
Metals and Salts Combo - As Supplied (ICPMS)
Includes Basic (Aluminium, Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper, Iron, Lead,
Manganese, Mercury, Nickel, Selenium, Silver and Zinc); Extra (Antimony,
Barium, Beryllium, Bismuth, Boron, Bromide, Cobalt, Lithium, Molybdenum,
Silicon, Strontium, Thallium, Thorium, Uranium and Vanadium) and Salts (
Calcium, Chloride, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium and Sulfur).
7500 and the 9100 palintest dose test for saltwater use
Even the cheaper pool tester test saltwater this might sound funny salt water pools are salt water ....
But im not going to have a debate about what dose what

Palintest will not give you the range that a Icp Ms test is in umNot entirely true and misleading. Saltwater pools are not seawater pools. Brine, brackish, and Saltwater Pools are or can be totally different. The major, minor, and trace elements in seawater can create a LOT of interference.
I am glad to see it's ICP-MS. It is better at the major and slightly better at the minor elements then ICP-OES. From my understanding it still has a hard time with the trace elements with AA possibly being better. This is information I got from someone that specifically tests seawater. ICP-MS also needs calibrated and ran specifically for seawater otherwise results will be off as well. I've seen someone bring in a sample of their water into their work and get back results that were extremely off. Their ICP-MS was not calibrated properly.
I still have my doubts on accurate test results for Zinc and other trace elements.
This is NOT to be taken as a bad thing or against you or anyone else. Just trying to get a good expectation of the results.
As for the Palintest I am very interested in how accurate it could possibly be with seawater. From what I can see it's designed for "freshwater, wastewater, and environmental applications." Again, I'm sorry, I do not see it being useful for seawater particularly the trace elements.
I am highly interested in it if it is and would love to see how.
Mate all good i understandAnd again, I am not trying to bully you or anyone else. I'm also not expecting answers right now. But if the testing procedures can not be explained in detail and showing the capability for accuracy then the entire paper will have higher levels doubts.
Yes, I'm sure there will be some skepticism but the more that can be detailed out the less of it there will be. As with all research.
