Zoa dip experience.

Gives Bad Advice.
Ok so today i FW dipped my zoa's for the first time. Didn't find a whole lot living in them other then some pods and one crab that has been identified as bad. Now my main problem is that this was about 3 hours ago and now some of my zoa's look like they're melting. It was just a FW dip with no additives. I shook them around and sat them in it for about 2 minutes and removed them. Any ideas? Did i sit them for too long?

Did you adjust the pH and temp of the FW? Not sure if that makes a difference, but I always do. I also use Lugol's and FWE in my dip. Haven't had a problem yet, except one zoa/paly rock that was already declining.

i didn't adjust it. but the temp was close to that of the tanks. I could tell by the feel of it. but did you zoa's open right back up? it's the next day and they're still struggling.

It's tough to say, since they have always been newly acuired specimens, so not only are they adjusting from the dip, but then to the new tank. Some open that day, some the next. Not more than a couple days from my limited experience.

I would turn off your lights and run actinics only for the next day or so-if you dont have actinics then leave the lights off for the day. They can take a few days to open sometimes.
I would read the FW dip procedure in full-JMHO and good luck with them

thanks for the advice. some of them are opened. some of them are not. some are melted. oh well. we'll see what happens.
