Just like title says i have some zoas that wont stay open during entire light cycle.

I have 6 zoa frags all different and separated by about 6 inches from each other.

All of them are on the same height of tank give or take half an inch.

All six Zoa frags open in the morning and as the lights slowly ramp up they stay fully open than about 5 hours in two frags close up like clock work always. While the other four frags stay open for the entire 8 hour day period and the 2 hour night time moon light.

Any idea why these frags close up always at the exact same time? The ones that close up 5 hours into the light are an eagle eye zoa and a watermelon zoa.

No signs of anything ........ Been looking for pests at night every day but pests wont make any sense since it always closes up 5 hours into the light cycle................ Any clues on what to do??????

the tank was started December 28, 2014. so in 6 days it will be 6 months old. as for light acclimation all i did was set my radion pro to acclimate mode of 60% for a 2 week period. and i only have the lights at 35% max intensity no higher. my carpet anemone is huge and beautiful and so are all my zoas nice and open. problem is 2 frags close up 5 hours into the light period.... =( maybe the 2 weeks of slowly ramping up to 35% max intensity was too quick...??? i got these lights about 3 weeks ago before that i had some cheap chineese LED lights

oh and when i had the cheap LED lights was when i got all 6 Zoa frags. and all 6 frags would stay open during the entire period but during moonlight those 2 same frags would start closing up early lol........ odd enough those two frags and an armor of god frag all came at the same time the other 3 frags where in there for over 2 months. the armor frag stays open always moonlight and everything and its been in the tank as long as the other two that close up. do you guys think in time they will just stay open maybe just need more time to acclimate than 3 weeks????????this is my first time with corals... but ive done fish only for over 6 years.

I would place those Z's in the sand bed for now then slowly move them up gradually. LEDs are potent light source regardless if you have it dimmed to 30-35%

they are on the rocks themselves so ill just dim them to 20% and slowly ramp them up back to 35% in 2 weeks.... ill set the acclimation mode now than. thanks for the quick replies XD i hope that this will do the trick

When I place new Z's and P's I always start at the sand bed then slowly move them up. by constantly messing with your LED your also impacting your other corals that are already acclimated to your original settings.
