ok, i know the green ones in the middle are obviously zoas. as far as the orange polyps on the right, are those palys or zoas also? each of the green polyps are still a little smaller than a dime, but they've grown over the frag that i glued onto the rock. as for the orange ones, there's probably close to 20 polyps now, the big ones in the middle being about the size of a quarter and it is still spreading very quickly

my other question is, now that the 2 colonies are touching, will there be anything conflicting? i dont want the orange ones to take the green ones over so ill move it if i have to. thanks

fight or flight will kick in on the green Indo polyps. They reproduce very fast once established. I do not think you have to worry about some sort of polyp battle. Let it ride and enjoy the show. good luck

Cool, thanks for the info.

I've also read that palythoas have sand in their mat, which is evident on some but not all.

Yeah since they arent all, its usually not they best method of distinguishing the two. Look up pictures of palys and then of zoas. You will start to be able to pick it up.
