Could this harm me I was fragging some zoas and the palytoxin shot and hit my face could it be dangerous or can it only enter through a cut.

Never had zoas for that very reason, you can search for Palytoxin poisoning.
My guess would be your breathing would become heavy or labored according to a friend that encountered this.

I mean no disrespect to you in any way, but this happened over 3 hours ago. Please get in your car, have someone drive you, and go to ER at a hospital.....not a clinic. Give them a detailed account of what, when and how. Mention your palytoxin concerns and they will run a complete makeup on you. They will take it from there as they have the ability to pull up any and all treatment and test for you. They will instantly draw your blood and give you some oxygen. Please leave now and let us know later how you are. Chances are it's not palytoxins.....but leave now and be safe. Ok?

PLEASE LEAVE NOW !!!!!!!!

I am an ER nurse and agree with this. Trouble breathing is no joke, and play toxin poisoning can cause respiratory failure which leads to death. They can offer supportive therapies and admit you to the ICU for continued care if needed. If symptoms are mild they can monitor you for a while.

Well needless to say it did get into my body. Er blood samples showed a very small amount (thank god). I'm still feeling under the weather but I got lucky!!! Thanks to everyone for the advice and the people at the er

Glad you're ok. Can you please share with everyone a detailed account of what they said, what they found and what test they ran? I hope they did a tox.

PT being the 2nd deadliest poison known to mankind, you did the right thing. Many reefers often think they are exposed when they aren't as all zoanthid do not posses said toxins. Since no one on earth can tell you which zoanthids have PT, and I assure you all of them do not or I would have died many years ago. But we must treat them all as if they do posses PT. There's absolutely no reason to be afraid of them or having to wear a Haz Mat suit. Like mushrooms and many other corals, zoanthids take up water. If you squeeze them they can squirt. This is where care and precaution should be taken.

Reefers should never pour hot water over them as the vapors can be harmful. You don't want this to become aerosalize/airborne in your house. Never touch your mouth, eyes, eat etc until you've thoroughly washed your hands in soapy hot water. PT is most serious when it enters your body via your mucus membrane. For that reason you should wear reef safe gloves or use dedicated tongs to move or place corals and wash whatever touches your polyps after the fact. Dedicated goggles should be worn if you are new to reefing and not use to handling corals properly. Most importantly, never.....never......ever place your hands in your tank if you have an open or recent cut on your hands/ arms etc. Even cracked cuticles are an entry point for possible exposure.

Please read my buddy's account at the top of this page in the stick en titled " palytoxin poisoning". Also other compounds and simple salt water can cause eye irritation and swelling.

If anyone thinks I've gone overboard, please do a search in this forum and read this thread "Warning - The Dangers of M/M" and share it with a friend.

I just read what the CDC website says, palytoxin is crazy stuff, glad your ok!!! Let your exposure be a lesson to all with zoas.

Just an FYI to anyone coming accross this in the future, see here for symptoms. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6431a4.htm

most common reported there are:
salty or metallic taste in mouth
Paresthesia (pins and needles)
Nausea
weakness
Dyspnea (difficult or labored breathing)
Scratchy throat
ache/pain in muscles/joints
fever
tremors

If you develop a few of the above after an incident that you expect you were exposed (that includes any time you frag or otherwise screw with a zoa/paly colony without gloves and eye/mouth protection) than you do not need to make a thread asking what to do. Just go to the ER. It is better to be safe, if potentially embarrised and out an ER co-pay, than dead. Make a post afterwards and share your story though.

Remember, this is a nurotoxin, not an allergen. It does not give you rashes (typically an allergy or abrasion(like from rubbing your arm on the salt creep on the top of your tank)) or infections from bacteria.

*** ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT WHEN FRAGGIN ZOAS AND PALYS ***
Can't stress that enough, these items make it seem too extreme to use just to frag coral, but when your dealing with Palytoxin, it's no freaking joke.

I guess I've been lucky. I've had a couple of those symptoms several times when dealing with my paly's. I take a couple benadryl and I'm fine in half an hour.
