Are you going to be running any power heads for more flow?
I don't think that pump will be enough.

Jamie, they way I see it, using the OM with the return pump is kind of a waste...boosting the pump would be a waste as well unless your going to run a huge sump. IME, you'd better serve the OM by running a closed loop...Option 1 would be to run a closed loop...option 2 would be forget the OM and put the money towards a Vortech......JMHO....

Good job man...I'm a big fan of the 120. Mine is 20" tall and 26" deep.

Let me know if you need any help.

BTW, are you doing a DSB on this tank?

Thanks for the input golfish, I really need to stop by and check out your tank sometime.

I have been really trying to avoid the closed loop setup if I could. I had a closed look a few years back when I had my old tank and I just had so many problems . I do see what you mean though about the OM being on the return, I won't be using the OM to its full potential. My main concern though is drilling my tank, I have done it once and screwed up so I am afraid to try it again. But if I did drill my tank I would drill 3 more holes for a closed loop. I even bought a brand new drill kit from GlassHoles.com, I just don't wanna screw up the tank.

Yea I read about people having no problems all the time yet I did it on my 55 and cracked the glass. Where did you get your bit? How long did each hole take you? Did you just use clay and water?

NO DRILLING NEEDED....you don't need to drill anymore holes. Your setup is perfict.

Does anybody have a pic handy of a CL using a U-tube made from PVC?

Got my ballast mounted, and lights hung today

Wires all neatly routed behind the canopy:

Let there be light!

Question about metal halides as I have never had them before....

If you flick the light on and they flicker but don't light whats that mean?
Can you not turn them off and turn them right back on? Do they need to cool? Mine won't turn on for about 5-10 minutes after i turn them off.
Every time I open or close my canopy my lights turn off, is this normal? Does it rattle the bulb loose? IS there something wrong with my bulb/pendant?

Once they get hot, they need some time (more than 5-10 minutes) to cool off before they fire again.

Something is not right if they shut off when you open your canopy. Check the connections again.

Nice build so far!

Yea I solved my problem with the lights, I just wasn't pushing them in enough since I was afraid to break them. They work perfectly now!

Awesome! Better safe than sorry. Installing fragile items can be nerve racking!
