zoanthid and mantis tank

I have setup a 10gal tank that is going to house a mantis shrimp. I am wanting to put corals in with him and I am debating what I want in there. I have seen pictures of zoa only tanks and they are quite neat. I have never kept corals before so I know nothing about feeding. I have a 80watt light on the tank and an ac110 fuge and also a maxijet 600 with hydroflow so I think my lighting, and flow is just fine for zoas. I also have a koralia nano that I can put in the tank. does anyone think I should or is my flow fine the way it is. My main question is about feeding, like what to feed with, how much, how often? also any supplements that I need. I know they don't require high levels of calcium. That is one reason why I want them. Thanks for any help with my questions.

Hey mate, sounds fine. I have a Mantis tank, 10gallon with Zoa's under a 36 w 50/50 and they are always open and seem to be doing fine. They are very hardy animals and will survive in the sometimes polluted water that a Mantis tank becomes. 80w is awesome, although your Mantis might find it to be a little bright but should get used to it over time.

photobret: sounds like you have the setup I am hoping to have. do you feed your zoas anything special. I am getting a N. Wernnae mantis and I have read they can handle alot of light. So he should be fine under he 80 watt.

I dont feed the Zoa's in my mantis tank, thye usually pick up the bits that the Mantis shrimp leaves behind, I do however feed my main tank zoa's with, a mixture of Phytoplankton, mysis, rotifers and a frozen coral mix. They get target fed along with all my other corals. Anything really small they'll eat. They dont have to be fed but if you want increased growth then by all means feed them. Also like I said they are very hardy so even if you overfeed your mantis tank they'll thrive.
