Zoanthid Growing Pots

With mother colonies I frag my zoanthids on right now I lose more polyps than I'd like. In my grow out tank I'd like to use something better for growing out new mother colonies and fragging from. Anyone have any good recommendations or links to a good site as reference?

Two options I've looked at so far...

- Terracotta pots - A bit worried about leaching but very cheap
- Unglazed ceramic pots - More expensive, but kiln fired typically safer bet
- One I found on Amazon but too small, would want bigger:
Any guidance would be appreciated and happy fragging!

How about that 2 part epoxy, you can mold it to any shape you want. & be sure it's safe for your tank.

Are you referencing the two part epoxy used for mounting frags? If so that'd take 3-4 sticks @ $5+ each. I'm going to try to stop by a few local hobby stores today for some ideas.

I think they mean taking the 2 part epoxy and flattening it out in the shape of a large plate. Then glue your frag in the middle and let it grow over the epoxy plate. easily break off chunks/add more epoxy as needed

Most garden stores will either sell you deeply discounted or just give you broken terra cotta pots. They are fine for use in the reef tank.. If you're worried about leeching, you can always cycle them in a separate container, but unused Pots don't typically leach much of anything.

There's a member of our local club that makes and sells frag plugs that can be broken apart. It's a circle in the middle and then it's surrounded with circles that are scored so they can be.broken off

I've taken to growing them out onto a bed of small rocks (I use crushed coral they use for driveways here) in a basket and then just snipping them apart and healing them up for a few days before shipping. Low labor, happy polyps.
