Zoanthid help. Strange

So I have these zoanthids in my 10g fusion that have been closed up for almost a week now. They seem to be slowly depleting. You can see in the photo the other two zoanthids are fine. Now, what's even more odd is these same zoanthids are in another tank I have (12g aquapod) they came from the same colony... And they're doing the same exact thing at the same exact time! In completely different tanks. Also, all the other zoanthids I have in my aquapod are doing fine as well. All of my parameters are in check and I find it very strange they're doing the same thing in two completely different tanks, at the same time! If anyone has ever experienced this or has an idea let me know. Thanks.

Some say zoanthids are good beginner corals. I'm still trying to find the magic for growing healthy zoanthids. I've got 10+ colonies of different zoanthids some doing well others just ok. Recently I had a similar experience, took the troubled colony out. Dipped it in CoralRx and it's doing fine now. The dip removed many small bristle star fish. Good luck.

I agree with you. I've been in this hobby for 4 years and I feel like zoanthids are hit or miss sometimes. I know they make for a tasty treat to some pest bugs but they've thrown me for a loop too many times.

Is that a peppermint shrimp? Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but some people have reported that peppermint shrimp eat corals.

I've got peppermint shrimps but have never seen them bother a coral. That said I don't watch the tank 24/7. Lol

Peppermint shrimp don't eat corals, though it may look like that at times. When you feed your tank, often times, Peppermint Shrimp will climb onto the coral to gather food from the coral polyps as well as walk on them causing them to close up periodically.
