Zoanthid host?

Could anyone explain what I am seeing here?
I have had this frag for a few months and decided to mount it today.
What is the purple coral mass around the zoas?
Ugh didn't realize the pic was so blurry...

I guess you mean the coraline algae.

No the frag has grown about ten-fold in just a few months.
It was originally the height of the zoas just above the plug.
That's not a rock - it was just plug and zoas and glue.
Here's another shot that's just a little clearer.

I thought the algae was just on the surface.

my guess is either sponge or coralline like someone else suggested.
