Zoanthids gonna lose this battle?

In Memoriam
I bought a rock of green zoanthids from a fellow reefer having a 'going out of business sale'. There are probably over 100 polyps on the rock...however...he must have had a colony of yellow polyps near the zoanthid rock at some point because there is 10 polyps of yellow polyps right on the border of the zoanthid mat. The zoanthids that are in contact with the yellow polyps do not look to hot...will they die? Will the yellow polyps kill and keep moving through my zoanthid colony? If so, how do I stop them???

Thanks.

they will try to overgrow each other. Shadowing the lesser zoa, which doesn't allow the weaker zoa to get light. therefore starving it and killing it.

But there are also a lot of zoa rocks out there that have multiple zoas that are doing good. But it really depends on what type. The typical yellow zoa is a real aggressive grower.

I'm sorry, I wasn't too clear in my original post. The 'yellow polyps' that I speak of aren't zoanthids...I guess they are commonly called Yellow Stick Polyps or Yellow Polyp Anemones? I've always just called them yellow polyps. Sorry about that. I thought they had no scientific name but just found one for them: Parazoanthus gracilis.

Is it a myth that they are little anemones? Trust me, when I saw the scientific name as Parazoanthus gracilis, the first thing I thought was Zoanthid. But as I said before, they used to not have a scientific name. Maybe I'm crazy but I thought they were considered little anemones...

Not little anemones, nor little corals. They have some similarities of both but if you don't want to call them Zoanthids you can call them Stoloniferans.

Just an idea. Can you take out the rock, chip off the rock where the yellows are and place them somewhere else in the tank. For me I would put them away from the main rock work to prevent them from taking over the tank.
