Zoanthids growing on Caulastrea

Recently I purchased a candy cane coral for my 10 gallon reef tank. At the time I could not see a small colony of pink zoanthids that were growing near the base of the candy cane. They are about halfway between the polyps of the candy cane and the base. It does not appear that either is stinging each other, as there are fully opened, healthy looking, polyps of both corals extended and touching each other (But I can't be positive about that). Many of the zoanthid polyps, however, are suffering from a lack of light, not opening and looking shriveled. I'm goign to remove the zoanthids to destroy any possiblity of agression between the two corals, but I'd like to save a few of the zoanthid polyps (pink with green skirts). What is the best and safest (for both corals) way to remove the zoanthids and keep the most number of zoanthids alive? I don't have any pics, but i'll try to borrow a friend's digital camera and get some in the near future).
