HI all I have hundreds of zoanthids on the back of my display. I do not want to get rid of them I just want to move them with out harm. they are getting to close to some star polyp that I have on the back as well that I want to be there . Any ideas would be helpful. I dont want to just take scraper to them.

Sorry I did not take the time to set up my camera pix is not to good but it should give you the idea. this is just one of a few spots in my display with them on the back .

Razor blades might cut the bottoms of them, and those are pretty cool, so I wouldn't want to loose them. As you probably know, star polyps and zoanthids are both very fast growing creatures, so if you let them grow into each other, it should probably be fine. They will just spread out the other way. If you really must take them off the back, then I wouldn't advise cutting them all off in a sheet. Make lots of frags and share them with local reefers.

I have decided to keep the Zoanthids & trim back the star pylop. So much easier & gave the star pylop to a freind. he was excited to start growing it on the back of his tank as I did. I feel bad I didnt tell him how fast it really grows. But then I guess it depends on your water quality & lighting too, maybe not as fast for some. You guys are right it is pretty cool w/zoos on the back .Ill keep em

here's an old photo of my biggest headache. green button polyps. I ended up scaping them off with a razor, bagging them up and giving them to a friend with a tank full of large angels. They liked them alot more than I did. Oh my tank at the time was a 6 foot 135 and they covered the entire back like this.
