Zoanthids won't open ????

I have some radioactive green ZOA's and due to hair algae they won't open so I thought I would take them out of my display and into my frag tank but they still won't open and the ones that aren't covered in hair algae only partially open, any help ???

I had some algae on a patch a while back used a soft tooth brush gently on them took a few weeks for them to bounce back

You need to deal with the algae problem.
Physically removing the algae around the polyps is good, but it is just a temporary relief.
Phosphates, nitrates and silicates are the things to look for.
Test for phosphates and nitrates and make sure to bring their values down.
You can also use some GAC and do partial water changes with DI/RO water and a good salt mix to help.
Minimize the food input for the fishes and inverts, and remove detritus while doing water changes.
Avoid GFO and dosing too many chemicals at once.
