Zoanthis easy to keep?

Wanted to get some zoas for my tank but it seems like a lot of people run into trouble with zoas dying, losing color, being attacked by nudis, etc...

Are they that difficult to keep and prone to a lot of problems?

For the most part, no.
They require light, not a lot. Water current, med to high. Stable salinity, ph, alk and temp like most saltwater animals.

There are pitfalls, but you just need to be cautious. Try reading the threads stickied to the top of this forum, you'll learn a lot.

Yeah I read most of them above but I was wondering what the prevalence of the "melting disease" is. It seems most problems can be prevented with FW dips but not the melting problem.

I agree with Reef Junkie, they aren't hard to keep at all. I'd spend some time reading the link below in totality.

It has most of what you need to know. If you have someone near you from the board who could help mentor you through the process, it will be a breeze.

Is this a new system or an existing one? It makes a big difference if you are looking for exceptional growth right off the bat. Also, knowing what inverts you have in your tank along with what fish you will place with your zoas, will help with the transition to zoa keeping. Some are good, some are bad.

My advice, read, research and read some more, it will makje a big difference. Good luck.
