Zoas and lights

Could i keep zoas with about 240w of light, or do i need to upgrade. I currently have powercompacts do i really need mh don't really want them?

Softies like zoo's ought to be just fine with PC's. These days T-5 HO w/ individual reflectors seem to be a worthy substitute for MH's (esp when overdriven).

PCs will work well for zoos and many other softies. I had a full blown healthy lps tank under 200W of pc for a 60gal.

You'd get more bang for your buck by going with T5's. You could probably even get a way with less total wattage that way too-- output vs. power consumed is much better with T5's and metal halides.

I agree. That said, zoanthids are a very diverse family. Most will be absolutely fine (even happier than if you had more lights), but I have had some that were unhappy and kept extending even 8" under the surface with halides.
