Acans: Looked great till bi-color angel went at them.
Frog spawns, hammers and torches: Always fall victim to some shrimp or crab that was supposedly reef safe.
Leathers: Do OK for a few years then...eh. My heater nuked them when lightening hit my apex for starters.
Zoas: I'm not sure if Zoas are just partial to Kessil lights and moderate high nutrient tanks or what but man....they just open up and grow and grow and grow. They are evidently immune to everything from power outages to high temp to nibbling angels. They are always open, spreading every where and brightly colored.
Other corals die...zoas just see extra realestate...
My new build has higher flow, will get more frequent water changes (system is near push button automated now) and different lighting.
I suspect what is successful in this tank will be DIFFERENT than my 90 but.....
What im thinking of doing based on my 2 years with the 90 is dedicating this entire 225 to Zoas with just a few acans, hammers, torches, frogs spawns and a couple leathers only thrown in to accent a 225g zoa garden. (Oh andThis time No Angels. no shrimp, no crabs, (Turbo snails and pods only) extra back up heater controllers..probably will hook a finnex controller to an apex..lol.)
Thoughts?
Here is a pick of my almost complete aquascaping. I've got 3 9 inch "floating" magna rocks coming in and that will be it.
PS. Will large tangs like hippos, powder blues or nasos turn on zoas??? My yellow and Tommy completely ignore them.
