Zoas closed up

So I was going to pull the trigger on a $25 a head blue zoa this weekend but for some reason my green and red zoas are not opening. I added a gfo reactor on Wednesday and Friday they stopped opening. Could I have dropped the phosphate to low to fast? Nothing else is suffering (Sps, LPS) is this normal?

I had the same thing happen and they never completely recovered. Not sure if it was the phosphate drop or if the GFO was not rinsed well enough and some of the fine particles entered the tank. I now run a couple of gallons of water through the reactor after changing out the media.

Hair algae... I have a biocube and was using the media rack. My phosphates were at .19ppm (Hanna) so I added 3 tablespoons of gfo and now I'm at .09. The reactor is offline now, I'm going to see if they come back. I was hoping to get my phos low so I can try to dose zeovits (phols xtra) for Sps color I didn't think I'd lose all my zoas though.

I guess it's a waiting game now.

I've heard many times that GFO could really damage corals and so on...
That's why I've never tried and don't recommend.
Some GFO users in the past also reported SPS bleaching.

Grandis.
