what cause some zoas to turn white and then melt away. I have had two colonies start to do this. My fav purple with green skirt zoas are starting to do it now. Its not affecting the whole colony but i am worried it will spread. any thoughts?

my cal is 460 and my alk is 9.5 and my temp is 79f. Its not effecting all of the zoas just a select few turn white and then shrink away.

I am going to guess the white is some sort of fungus and can probably be blown off with a turkey baster
+1 and -1
Most white fungus is caused from die off of sponge underneath the mat polyp
In most cases a baster will not take care of the problem, as it is bacteria build up underneath.

You can try removal of the mat from the rock
or try some diluted HP on a q-tip around the fungus...
I would remove from the rock

You still did not answer if they were new?? BTW the "white fungus"
will spread to healthy colonies if not treated....good luck
