zoa's on substrate

I have a large colony of zoes that are starting to spread out on the substrate. I know it sounds stupid but how do I collect them and get them attached to some live rubble? Can they be glued? would you use tweazers or just kinda scoop them out of the substrate?

Perhaps not the best way but... I end up placing rubble under where they are spreading, let them attach really well and then just pull them apart. (take care to shield eyes and mouth) Haven't lost any this way yet and nothing in the tank seems to care.

Careful cutting with a razor or other sharp object may be more highly recommended.

Pick them up carfully and choose ur rock or plug to fix them to and get some superglue gel and use fair ammount. If u need to split the colony use a sharp new razor . After they are glued try not to move frags until they grow onto the plug so they dont float away

Thanks Mel. I have rock and rubble on 3 sides but they seem to be spreading out where I don't want them to (go figure) After reading a recent thread about one member that got really sick working with them I am much more carefull (scared)

Thanks for the ideas. Superglue gel is there a specific brand that is reef safe? Do you get it at a hardware store?

Any Superglue gel will work. I used to use whichever brand the dollar store had.

Just get some GEL that has cyanoacrylate as the active ingredient. Any brand will do.

Use ICGEL cures real fast just glue them onto the plug or rock and dip and almost totally cured.. I got mine off of ebay works great! check nearby hobbie stores.

OK, Thanks Ellie, I will look on e-bay for self contained breathing system and wear a full face helmet. I will wrapp my entire body in cellophane and aluminum foil and then put on gloves. Anything I have missed LOL

you also need to be irradiated after words.....stand in front of the Microwave for 2 mins with the door wide open.....on high.

wow. don't be scared. it really is pretty easy, and i did my first zoo frag barehanded...just washed extremely well before touching my hands to anything. I know alot of people get stung, but so far, i haven't had a reaction to anything....i can feel the sticky "grab", but no pain or any other adverse reaction. Everyone is different. Basically, you won't know until you try.
