Hello, my zoas are not thriving! Ok so a little background info goes a long ways.
My tank is a simple 25 tall with no sump I have macro algae in the tank growing. There is also some brown stuff growing on the sand appears to be a bacteria bloom.
My zoas are like 20% closed 80% open and they've been like this for over a week. Alkalinity is at 7 it was at 5 two days ago so I boosted it up a bit with dosing pump.
The closed ones seem to be healthy but I am noticing the brown film develops on them and I have to do a dip to remove it.
Any Ideas on why they aren't opening fully? lighting is a 180 watt led fixture at 50% intensity. Some of the other coral do not appear to be thriving either I have a sps Cap coral that is washed out looking but still alive and a toadstool leather that is fine. Lots of ricordea probably 40-50 and all those are doing really well.
