Zoa's turning black

Hi all.

Long time reader of this forum, and usually there's always an answer to most, if not any questions dropped here. But this time I'm really with out a clue about what's going on.

I've got this beautiful frag of Zoa's that from one day to the another started to loose all it's color and turned completely black. I mean, it' not getting dark brown or something, but totally black.
It does not affect the whole disc but only parts of individual branches. This coloring seems to occur randomly as there's no obvious pattern of which polyps that are affected, but it's definitely limited to this specific colony..

Nothing special done lately that would affect my parameter, and no changes in lights, placement or anything really.

What I did note just prior to taking this picture, was that the polyps didn't respond to touching the regular way - eg. They did not to close if they was touched..

Such lack of response usually mean that the polyps are dead (or dying) but I just had to try the same cure as I do for Zoa-pox, doing a Furan dip which seems to at least seems to help a little.

Today, the polyps are mostly closed I THINK that most of the black colour has disappeared. Difficult to know if the partially open polyps today are the same ones I saw yesterday...

This black stuff was not solid within the polyp and could not be removed by a powerhead or something.

If any of you have had ANY similar experience I would really appreciate a word or two.

All the best, Ketil

pics please.

I've had some Z's and P's be stressed or get hit by rocks droppin and the oral disk turns pure black, after a couple weeks all the color starts returning.

Do you have any pics to share? It could be a couple of reasons, but a picture would definitely help.

Ketil, you describe a situation I am having too. The polyps don't respond to touch the way they typically do.

Could it be molting?
