Zoas?

Morning, question for you. My pair of zoas are moving apart from each other, is this normal? Had this pair about 2 weeks, they used to be next to each other now they appear to be growing on stalks and moving apart. Also will the multiply and how does this happen?
Thank you.

It's normal. But they are Palys. Dont worry, if your water is good they're going to multiply fast. How old is your tank?

Palys and zoas are closely related. Palys, in general, tend to have bigger faces, longer necks, longer lashes, be less colorful, be more hearty and reproduce a bit faster. But there are exceptions to almost every general rule I mentioned.

It's not uncommon for them to 'stretch' out their necks and go after better light while they have room. New palys will grow from the base, generally around the outside of the colony so they expand over the frag plug or rock that they are growing on. They tend not to want to grow over sand unless it has some very course fragments.
