I agree.

I wouldnt worry about that dying polyp, you have much bigger fish to fry thereit looks like

i've tried everything, i've got no phosphates i have a nudi branch eating it what can i do to get rid of green hair algea, some reef safe chem or any thing?

you have tons of phosphates.

the algae wouldnt be there like that if you didnt

chemicals or other bandaids are not the solution.

You need to start at the beginning. is your tank set up sop that you can get crap suspended, to the overflow and to your skimmer?? Is your skimmer sufficient?? RO/DI water with zero TDS for source water?? Is your stocking and feeding habits in line with what your system can handle?? Do you do regular water cahnges?? Are you dumping any needless phosphate laden crap in there you dont need?

I just read what I wrote and it sounds kinda harsh...Im just being honest and trying to help. You need to forget the notion you have no phosphates though regardless of what your test may say.

i'm not taking it harshly, i understand the advice. Its a 29g with a fission nano skimmer that was just installed 3 days ago. My tank is almost 6 months old. My supplier said i wouldn't need a skimmer till 6 months. i've had the algae prob for a while and it was a lot worse but its still there. I was told just doing water changes would get rid of it. Before a water change (every 2 or 3 weeks) i srub walls real good and pick off long strands from the rocks so that i can remove it. i have good flow (2 maxijets, one 900 and other 1200) plus the skimmer which is turning i think 90 gph or so.) Everything is fine with the exception of that one polyp, the overtaking green hair algea, and my bta(witch is a whole new thread in the anemone forum) I was using tap water for my top off but 2 weeks ago i switched to kalk and ro/di water.
So what can i do to get rid of the green hair algae?

not using a skimmer for the first 6 months is HORRIBLE advice, and I would say the main reason your tank is in the shape it is in.

You can get away with not using askimmer, but depending on stocking and feeding habits you need to change 20-50% of the water a week for that to be ok IMO.

Honeslty, i fmy rock looked like that, or i was given a system to fix that looked like that, I would pull all the rock out, scrub it and cook it. I dont knwo where the link lives on this forum and im not allowed to link other forums here, but search for posts by seant titled "how to cook your rock" and you will find the directions. its a pita but 6 months from now you will have a nice clean system instead of fighting this hole you have dug for the next year and maybe pulling out of it.

alright, now i have more polyps shrinking up across the tank where the algea isn't at, I just had a bta melt a little and die so i had a little amonia, would that do it, i mean it wasn't bad. Any help
