I posted a few days ago about some orange zoos I have on a piece of branch. For the last week and a half most of them did not open. I searched at night with a flaslight for nudis, eggs, or zoo eating snails and did not fins anything.

Tomorrow I was going to get some lugols and do the dip but about 10 more polyps are now opening?

Is there any natural cycle that zoos go through that could make them not open for a couple of weeks? Reproducing??

I have 6 other zoo colonies that are doing great and have produced many more without ever stopping opening up so I was wondering.

I have had this happen as well and I think it is a pretty normal occurance. Every once in a while a colony of mine will be closed for a while and everything else will be fine. I couldnt tell you the cause, only that it's probably not something to worry too much about.

That happened to one of my zoo colonies... I found there were nudis. I didn't have any iodine so I just did a FW dip. After two dips (1 a day) it started to open and I haven't seen or had any problems with nudi's. I didn't know there were nudi's until I did the first FW dip... they fell off after shaking the colony briskly.

You'll be able to see the nudi... just look closely. Also make sure there aren't any eggs.. if there are, scrape them off... the dip won't kill the eggs. They look like a spiral pearl necklace.

Also, I have some pink zoos that when distrubed, close and close forever. Sometimes 1 - 2 days straight. But after not touching them or borthering them, they open wide open.
