Hey folks....I know it hs been a while. I figured i'd check in and offer some status updates. First its nice to see that this board is chugging along.
The zoo tank is still plugging along as well. As some of you may know, there has been some administrative changes at the zoo. Since Mike Janis was removed by the board, the reasons for which are still murky, Sheila, the former head curator was appointed to the position. She as well was subsequently removed. As far as i know, they are still seeking a replacement.
The zoo has been suffering financially and was considering terminating the reef tank to cut back on operating expenses. However, due to its popularity, they have elected to try to keep it going for another year. It is now almost 6 yrs old if you can believe it. It will need some upgrades to keep it functional; mostly the lighting system. The sea horse tank was taken off line to help reduce some costs and maintenance time. The main display actually looks quite amazing since the softies are absolutely HUGE!
At a personal I have decided to discontinue my 90 gallon home display to save on time and money. As some of you may know, by business, Oakdale Psychology Associates got decimated by the flood. We had to move to our new location in Endicott. We got up and running in about a week so we didn't lose a lot of time but obviously we took a significant financial hit. So I will soon be listing stuff for sale as I will be selling the whole system in whole or in part. I sure hope others here survived the flood in tact. My 65 gallon office tank sadly was destroyed by the flood as well
But life goes on.
So happy new year to everybody and I'll check in again soon! Perhaps if some folks want to see the zoo tank, we can meet up there one of these days. Sundays are typically best for me.
