OK... I'll price it out. What is the total capacity of the system now?
No Steve. I did put in a bunch of inverts including snails and crabs into both tanks. I also got a new cleaner shrimp and a harlequin shrimp for the 180. The harlequin is awesome looking. I am hoping he can stay alive by eating asternia stars. If so I will definitely buy one for my tank. I am hoping DSt James and Geo can get the seahorses by next weekend. I am also waiting on new t-5 lamps. I will also order new fans.

Jerry... not sure if you want to/can tap into Tim up at ABC but they have several seahorses.
This am I added a large purple plate coral, a orange spiny gorgonian and a few other smaller items. Since the zoo is now open on weekends, I had the opportunityy to witness the publics reactions to the displays. Now that the 180 is more mature and grown in, people seem transfixed by the display. One fellow was visiting from England and proclaimed that he has seen coral displays all over the world and he thought this tank, although smaller than most, is one of the finest displays he has seen. He loved the color, variety, and movement of the fish and corals. Another family with three kids came back for a second look since their kids loved it so much. Seeing these responses makes all the time and work seem worthwhile. Just thought I'd pass this along to all those who gave up their time and effort on the tanks.
St. James and Geo informed me that Reidi seahorses will not be available for a while. They will lend us another species (I forget which..but it has similar temperature tolerances) until Reidis are available. They are also donating banded pipefish. They just told me that they have arrived at their shop and are waiting to insure that they are healthy and accepting frozen mysis before delivering them to the zoo. Very cool!
I was going to stop by tomorrow at about 9 or 9:30 just to make sure the tank is in tip-top shape for the opening tomorrow. Also to change out the t-5 lamps. One of these days we should do some preventitive maintenance on the Panworld pump and clean the impellern which gets serious calcium deposits on it.
Adam and I are planning on stopping by the zoo tank tomorrow (9/13) morning at 10 am. Anybody is welcome to come along. It has been a while since we have executed any group efforts on the tank. It would be great for our reef club to get this going again if their is any interest.
Also, I don't suppose anyone has a gen-6000 needle wheel impeller lying around. I was just informed by the zoo that the impeller broke. I am trying to locate one on the net but they don't appear to be available. I may have to purchase a whole new pump.

Adam and I went to the zoo and noticed one of the other bulkheads was leaking (Nate and I fixed one a few weeks back). We attempted to tighten it and only made matters worse. We attempted to drain and clean the overflow to make for a better bulkhead seal but to no avail. So we had to stop the main pump and we situated both tanks with heat and floW. I'm having new bulkheads overnighted and hopefully we can get the system back on its feet. I also ordered a new gen-x pump to get the euro-reef skimmer up and running again. When it rains it pours. But overall, despite recent setbacks, the tank looks terrific.

Paul (Fish): Nice to hear from you as well. It's been a while since I've seen you post. For those who may not know, Paul did an amazing job designing and putting together the lighting system for the zoo. Regarding your inquiry, I might suggest starting a separate thread to seek interest. I could probably use some GFO from two part solutions and maybe a couple of other things.
Our master plumber Nate Rogers saved the day again and we were able to replace the failing bulkhead which required replumbing the left return section of the system. We worked on the tank until about 9:45 Tuesday night. So a big "Thanks" to Nate for his time and efforts. The following evening I replaced the broken pump impeller. So we are back in business and the system is once again fully operational.
