zoos and SPS?

Any problems with zoos and SPS's being in the same tank? I know mushrooms can bother SPS's, but what about zoos?

If you can keep them away from the sps you will be fine. Just be careful, in some tanks they grow like crazy. In mine they just stay in their spot and don't multiply. Another compatible softy is Rics.

I am surprised rics are ok, but mushrooms are not....
If a zoo touches an SPS, who will win? or will they both be harmed?

Doesn't make much sense to me either ;) Mushroom polyps (including Ricordia spp.) are probably as ok as the results one gets. If they get close to and start burning other corals, that isn't so ok. If they stay put on their own rock they're probably fine.

That's a bit like asking if a feline and canine get in a fight, who will win. Well, if it's a chihuahua vs. a tiger, my money's on the tiger, but if it's a grey wolf vs. a house cat...well, I like dogs better anyway ;)

for me, mushroom is more "toxic" than ric...

I think its more of an issue that rics dont multiply nearly as quick as standard shrroms, so theres so many less throwing off their nasty alleopathic chemicals.

Mushrooms are harder to kill. Example i take kalk and kalk a ric, Its dead, I take kalk and kalk a shroom it just jets ****ed off for a couple days, and i end up taking it out and introducing it to a mini torch. LOL

my mushrooms kill any SPS that has been close enough....my ricordia's have never harmed any sps that they are next too....

yeah weird, but true.

Maybe it's just me, but the language we're using seems so odd to me. Ricordia are one way whereas mushroom polyps are another...yet Ricordia ARE mushroom polyps. I suppose it's like saying trees are a certain way, but maples are the opposite. Hmmm

? guys ive been having some loss of my sps lately in my current tank trying to narrow it down cant figure out anything wrong with the water quality other than an elevated salinity level i had been using the hydrometer then got a refractometer and it showed a level of 1.028

anyways ? is im moving all my stuff over to my new 180

i wanna make this tank more sps dominated

my softies in question are my large colt coral and my large yellow devils finger leather

can these harm sps?

id like to keep them in the new tank since they are so big and grown in looking but can they harm sps by releasing toxins?
