Zoos Dying

Hello, I am having a problem with a colony of my zoos. On Sunday I moved the tank from Chicago to Urbana. When I set it up in Urbana I noticed the colony did not look very good, about half of them looked like they were dyinig. Now I have about 1 or 2 polyps that look healthy left. I don't know whats going on as the rest of my corals are doing excellent, even the more delicate ones. Does anybody know what could have caused this? Also, if the colony dies off, how much will it affect the water quality of my 10 gallon reef?

They look like they may just be a little stressed from a recent move (4 days ago?). Have had some zoos that didn't open for nearly 2 weeks (Eagle Eyes), some Blue Docs that took a week after shipping to open, etc. May just need a little time to adjust. Maybe try coaxing with rotifers or the like?

BTW, those look exactly (at least the single one you can see open in the pic) like some I have in my tank which get stressed more easily than my other zoos due to my summertime lack of maintenance. You'll be fine.

TThey just look closed up to me. The pic isn't a close up. but iI don't see any fugis on them. I wouldn't panic, they look like they will be ok

As long as they don't "melt" away you still have a chance with them. I've had new zoo's take up to a week or longer to open after shipping. Just give them time.

Also I doubt that it would have any effect on your water quality if they did melt away, it looks like you keep up with everything.

Urbana, I was born there, lived there for over 20 years, got out and never looked back, you must be a U of I student :)

Give them some good flow and they should be fine. If you see fungus or exposed flesh melting away take the colony and dip it in Lugols w/Freshwater. Flow is the key to make stubborn zoas open up. Good Luck keep us posted.

Ok I'll try to change the flow a little more toward them. But, what you can't really tell in the picture is that some of the polyps have a brown growth on them. I thought the brown might them just dying off, but could it be a fungus? Here I circled what I am talking about:

Oh and I do goto U of I, junior in Mech. Engineering. Its a good school, although I can there is probably not much to do once your out of campustown.

I cant tell from the picture. Is there any dying sponges on that rock if so you can do a 50/50 of RO water and Hydrogen peroxide for a fungus dip. But I would do that as a last resort its a little harsh. You can use the seachem dip but I would use it with freshwater. I doubt its a pest because they were fine before you moved. If it is the freshwater dip will help rid some of them. Hope this helps.
