I got a couple frags of green zoo polyps from a local reef buddy(THANKS!) and there are some maroon looking stuff on the tips now... Got a picture bellow, maybe you can explain.

Thanks!

Haven't tried... Is it bad for it?

The other frag has it too...it covers the un-opened polyps, and its that dark maroon color.

i'm thinking cyano as well. i've got my fair share of it right now too. increase flow and watch your parameters is what i have been told.

well if its cyano...i personally dont really see it as a bad thing, altho it can become bad if you just let it sit on the corals (it can cover them, they dont get light/food/whatever, and could possibly die...that being said, i've left corals covered in it for weeks and they showed no real problems).

But if its cyano, its more than likely just normal. All my tanks have gone through cyano phases in the beginning, and it always goes away as long as i keep the nitrates/phosphates out.

Anyways, its kinda hard to tell what it is just by looking at the pic (kinda too far away...). But is is slimey looking?

I did try to blow it off... and it kinda came off, but not real easily. I will watch my water params and make sure the flow is good.

And of course... give it some time...
