0.7 Gallon Pico Cube Experiment.

well he emailed me back saying what ever info is on the site is the only info they have. here is the ONLY thing i could find useful on the site
Brightness:28,000~30,000 cd/m²
guess i'll try some cold cathodes on my nano 2G when i set it up

Don't you hate it when you get the generic response from a vendor. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to try them out for ourselves.

I'm actually off today, so I will try to get as much done as possible.

Jacob

oh yea love the responses haha. Just a quick question, if it is 6500K that would work quite well woudln't it(just be unapeasing so the eye?)

Reefin cant wait for update this tank kicks butt man!

Thanx everybody!!! 6500k actually is very crisp white. It appears as a very FULL spectrum white.

I actually cut some acrylic and covered the top of the overflow and that did an amazing job of silencing and regulating the overflow.

Jacob

This is so funny. I wanted to see how much water this thing actually holds...

At full system running, this thing holds EXACTLY ONE GALLON!!! To the ounce.

Finally got the pop out doors cut and installed in the stand. Just waiting on the canopy fans before I finish the canopy. So this thing is getting there slow but surely.

Jacob

This is a exceptional tank and idea! Very inspiring and the design worthy of mass production. They would sell like crazy.

Very excellent work Reefin!

I myself love doing led projects, from my case modding days.
I was doing some searching for 6500k temperature range leds for a refugium on a 2.5gl desktop I'm starting & came across this very cool thread!

Being familiar with CCFL's from modding PC's I also researched in the past about using them for reef/refugium application but never had any real luck finding out the temperature ranges. Those Sunbeam CCFL would make excellent pico/nano refugium lights if they were 6500k range.
Any solid data on Sunbeam temperature ratings yet anyone?

Those NanoCustom mini led refugium lights are really nice! Though take the fun out of DIY. Their tempting but -

Does any body no exactly where to get true 6500k led's?
I have sent a few emails out tonight to some suppliers.

Again, very excellent project reefin'!

Bryan

FINALLY!!!!!! The 40mm fans are on the way!!! These things are cool, they're only 40x10mm thick, clear, and have four LEDs to illuminate them.

Should be in next week.

Thank you for the kind words Bryan. I love taking on projects like this and watching as the finished project unfolds.

I'm off tomorrow, so I should be able to get a few new pics up of the new doors.

I have contacted Sunbeam several times, and they don't seem to know what I'm talking about. I think that I may have ccfldirect.com custom build a ccfl lighting array for me. Or I am still thinking of using some Luxeon Rebels.

For now the LEDs that I made will do, but I have a feeling that I will upgrade them later.

Jacob

sunbeam doesn't seem to know the ratings... time to find someone with a light meter and see if they'll do some tests.

Cant wait to see some livestock in this tank

The lumen output is almost 6 times that of T5HO. I am talking 29000 cd/m^2 vs 5000 cd/m^2. I am considering doing this on a slightly larger tank (8.5 gallon). Does anyone know what the penetration is like on these things??

Does anyone know where to get the 6500k LED's?

I sent emails out to a few led suppliers yesterday and all I got in return was ignorant response's!

Bryan

I get all my LEDs from BestHongKong.com.

Although the "pure white" LEDs are not listed as 6500k, they are VERY similar in full color spectrum as a 6500k compact fluorescent bulb.

Jacob

Well, finally got the pop out doors cut and ready to be finished.

I was able to find an even smaller rope trim to put around the doors.

So that makes: 3/4" rope trim on stand, 1/2" rope trim on canopy, and 1/4" rope trim on stand doors.

Fans are on the way and should be here next week. Then I can finish the canopy.

Thanx everyone for tagging along!!!!

Jacob

The stand turned out kick*** indeed! The rope trim is a nice nautical touch, great idea.

JBJ or CPR will be selling this design in no time :p
Can't wait for new updates.
