Would having 0 of those cause rtn or stn? And how do you guys get those numbers up to be detectable?

Could be. Especially with high Alk and Light Intensity. From personal experience my Acropora have done much worse when I ran an ULNS and I had high Alk/Light Intensity. I’ve found with lower nutrients it’s better to keep Alk at 7-7.5 and most Acropora in 200-250 PAR.
To get them higher and more detectable, you could feed more, add some more fish, or I have found using Polyp Booster helps color up Corals in a clean tank.

They cannot get too low if you let the tank handle them on it's own - they can low on a test kit, but you will always have some since they cannot be used beyond equilibrium.

If you are using organic carbon, GFO, LC, AlOxide, etc, then you can certainly drive them too low and limit algae growth which will also be limiting the dinos in the coral.

My tank keeps mine at .1N and .005-.01P - this is close to natural seawater. I run halides with par from 350 to 600. Alk is around 7.1. Everything flourishes. If I took them maybe 5-10x lower, which is possible with media, then everything would suffer.

If you do not have a Hannah Ultra-Low Phosphorus Checker, then get one - it will show a reading. There is nothing that you can get to show nitrate beyond what a Salifert kit will show - but don't worry... you have some unless you are dosing organic carbon.

I'm currently at 8.6 alk. I'm having some sps rtn maybe I need to lower my alk to where it originally started like 7.5. After I started nopox tank started going to crap

It was just few years ago when keeping no3 and po4 undetectable in a sps was considered almost a must and we strived to keep them as low as possible. Now we know why corals would lighten up so much in ulns tanks and keeps low but detecable no3 and po4 is now know to be critical to coral health. Feed more and add some more fish.

I am feeding more and my phos did go up to .05 but nitrate still undetectable. My buddy swears by dosing nitrate. Your thoughts?

Yes, some are dosing nitrates. I have just decided to use reef roids every day and that keeps some phos/nitrate detectable.

Yep some dose no3 to maintain levels in systems that denitratify very well. Many use liquid aquatic plant no3 suppliment like Seachem Nitrogen.

Yes I stopped nopox. That was the worst thing I ever did for my tank. I dosed some tree stump remover things seen happier now

From my (limited) understanding, if you're going to run ULN, you need to be feeding and adding amino acids. Corals need no3 and po4 to grow. This is anecdotal, but I had success using a zeovit system and was running very low nutrient but I was also dosing amino acids and I tend to be a pretty heavy feeder.

Nopox isn’t necessarily bad. It’s just bad when overdosed...
With more feeding and adding aspartic acid, you’ll have to keep an eye on nutrients again.
I suspect without the nopox completely and added nutrients n and p may rise...
