1.5" diamond wheel, useful, or death wish?

I have a few SPS encrusted on a fist sized rock and I need to separate them. Also I need to cut encrusted SPS off some very hard argonite plug..

Without resorting to an 4.5" angle grinder and brick cutting blade I am willing to try this first. I am currently using a smaller version not made by dremel with some success but not enough reach with the small diameter.

Anybody know if there is a wheel for pneumatic tools I am open for that option as well.

I use a 1" cutting wheel on my cordless dremel all the time

i dont think its a death wish with anything you use........just keep your fingers out of the way

another thing that can be done sometimes if you are trying to just seperate the corals by splitting the rock is drill the rock with a line of holes in between the corals. the rock will split where you want that way sometimes too

the $70 wet tile saw from HD or LOWES is the perfect tool.

Also guys, diamond blades don't cut skin as easily as toothed blade. You can get your fingers into a tile saw blade and know it befor you hurt yourself.

Diamond angle grinder blades are a bit different due to the non continuous rim. They can whack a finger pretty good.

BeanAnimal I have a wet tile saw but it use fresh water normally!!

ow do you think my SPS will react with some fresh water spray or if I don't use any water at all?

You can put some saltwater in it if you like. Just clean it up well after use. The freshwater would likely be okay too, as long as you get the coral back into saltwater as soon as your done.
