1 Red Firefish or 2?

I have 1 Clownfish in my new 40 breeder, and it is time to add my second fish. I was thinking of a Red firefish, but should I get 1 or 2? My LFS dont have any, and wont be able to get any for 6 months, I dont wanna wait. So I will have to order from Liveaquaria. If I order 2 from there do you think I will get a pair?

They can be tricky to successfully pair up and given that you can't see the fish your buying it makes it even harder.

I took the chance and got 2 baby ones... some people have luck and they became a mated pair..

became one after a week

I've put two in my 90g about 8 months ago, still have both. I must have gotten lucky and had them pair up.

Wait and find a pair if you want 2. Don't chance it with 2 random ones...

They do just fine on their own, other fish in the tank will keep him happy.

Most likely, they are quite territorial against their own kind unless they are a pair, I have seen three live together happily but that is in a big tank.

I would be ready to separate in case they begin fighting,and leave trios for larger tanks.

If you really want more than one dartfish you could get the Blue Gudgeons instead because they actually do better in pairs. Mine get along great with my single red firefish and my clowns.
